Holiday in 2011

I haven't told you about my traveling story and I did forget it. Actually it was my travel on 2011 with my lovely sister-Paulina with her boyfriend-Wilton and my cousin-Henny.

I do really love traveling so much. I do want to travel around the world for real and this year I get opportunities to go to US, actually for HNMUN 2012 competition but I extend my itinerary until 2 months more in US to visit my cousins and of course for big holiday (I will go to Boston, Washington DC, New York City, New Jersey, Ford Smith, Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Chicago - quite long long holiday and many places to visit. Love it.:))
Someday I would like to visit Japan and Korea of course, then have around trip holiday in Europe. Hope I can realize it before I get old and cannot go for holiday. hahaha... Maybe I need to list many many places to visit in this world. Just for your information, recently I just watched great video that a traveler went around 17 countries in a year. It is really awesome... I can watch it for many times, so inspiring.:)

And now I want to tell you about my eid mubarok holiday, around 1 weeks to belitung- the place where took place as the "Laskar Pelangi" Movie- It is a tetralogy Indonesia novels, it is very nice novels then become film series. The place is very nice so we decided to spent our eid mubarok holiday there.

I have forgot exactly what we did day by day there, but I liked it so much when in the beach. One information that I do really love beach instead of mountain.:P (sun, sand, beach - perfect holiday)

Happy New Year 2012

Hi, this is my first blog since 2012. Anyway Happy New Year 2012 although it was already passed.:)

I want to share a bit about my happy new year 2012 celebration. It is different from several years I used to do. This year, I celebrate it in Jakarta, in my new home sweat home, of course with my family (although it was not complete, only with my lovely mom and sister), not only them but also my other big family from mom, my us-aunty (Yek Min Ai) that came to Indo to visit her family and to attend my cousin wedding party (yen2 cie), jkt-aunty (Yek Li Ai with his husband) with her 4 children : Felix, Thomas, Sophia, and Cindy, last not least pekan baru-aunty (Yek Kuai Ai with his husband) with her daugther - Rina. There were lots of people right? I did really happy because I could celebrate this new year happily.

Firstly, my mom cooked dinner for us, quite simple food but I really like the "togetherness" with big family to have dinner together to celebrate new year party. After that, we had delicious pizza - dominno. It is my first time to try those pizza, it was really delicious pizza. Not stop till that, I got delicious ice cream cake - Hageen Daaz (if I don't make spelling mistake:P), it was my first time to try the delicious ice cream since it is very expensive. Really very full of food.

We-kids also played small fireworks, it was not complete to celebrate new year without fireworks.:P
We played it at backyards of our place, it was quite beautiful and fun.

Danamon Young Leader Award 2011 (DYLA 2011)

Here is (maybe) the my last achievement in 2011. It is about Danamon Young Leader Awards (DYLA) 2011. Firstly, I just think it is just only a workshop to build our leadership ( I do love leadership workshop and competition- red : soft skill, instead accounting competition - because I am not too briliant in accounting, but still a bit smart.:P)

Ehm, actually thanks to God because I got this awesome opportunities. I will tell you about the story how I can be involved and elected as one of the DYLA 2011. First, previous weeks before I know about the DYLA program (actually I have know DYLA from my friend who has participated the program in 2010, but in 2011 I didn't know the exact date DYLA will be held), I want to participate in Sampoerna Best Student Visit 2011. It is also an awesome program which around 70 students from around Java island universities gather in Surabaya (Sampoerna Headquater) to get workshop from Sampoerna for 3/4 days. My university got 3 invitation from Sampoerna, but it is a bit lame for my university to select the candidate by first come, first serve without make further selection based on several criteria. Short story, I was late to apply for Sampoerna Best Student Visit 2011 (hope I can got it for 2012:P).

Then, as usually I always look around my university, especially my faculty board (some tips for you : kindly diligent to read your university board information because there are lots of useful information you can get). There is information about the DYLA 2011 program, and exactly I was also late because the due date has already passed (I just finished my internship program in Jakarta, and back to Bandung several days after I finished packing). Not stop until there because I used to contact the PIC for DYLA to inform me if DYLA will be held again (but she was not - because I am sure they are very very busy) and I called back to the PIC if I have a chance to join the program. Fortunely, I got the opportunity to send my application to them because it was already late and the registration has already closed.

Luckily, I was called by the PIC to inform me that I was selected as one of the candidate of DYLA 2011. 4 days 3 nights workshop and fun together with 20 best elected student from several universities around Java island.

Day 1, we gather in Danamon 2nd headquater for HR in Rasuna Said Road, and around 1 pm we move to Danamon Corporate University (DCU) in Ciawi, Bogot. For day 1, just short introduction from Danamon and we do nothing.:P (Just having fun and share talk with other candidates)

Day 2, begin with more comprehensive information about danamon by one of the Manajer, Mr. Mardi till noon then we are divided into 5 groups (SMART) and each groups consisted of 4 people. I got in the fourth group – R (Responsible) consisted of me – Vin Cent UNPAR, Andy WIDYA MANDALA, RURU ITS, and AYU (ting-ting) UI. Start from here, we play as a team to get the best team in DYLA 2011. After lunch, we had out bound (the most interested part in DYLA). There was 6 point places to play in the out bound, we did really enjoyed this part, of course because it was very very fun and interesting. After the out bound, in the evening we got motivation seminar by one of independent Director of Danamon (formerly Director in Unilever), I actually forget his name. He was really very nice people, down to earth with lots of interesting stories of his life. He did really motived us how to became wise leaders. At the night, we had cooking competition and it was also very fun because we must cook for our dinner by ourself.:P

Day 3, begin with morning sport (but I miss this part because of neck pain and of course lazy to wake up in the morning, red: sorry.:P). After that, we shower, breakfast, and went in to the class. We got knowledge Management Class by Mr. Alvin (the owner of KM plus Jakarta). A new concept of how to keep the information spread wisely in the organization. We got the project how to implement the knowledge management in Danamon itself. I also met Mr. Sigit (Senior HR Manajer) in Danamon. He was really a nice person also, he always shared with us some useful information and history during the coffee break, lunch, or dinner.:)

Day 4, As usually morning sport and I missed it again, shower, breakfast, and we got new project again: business simulation. How we can sold our products to customer by limited material and sources of money (we were given only Rp 70.000 to buy the material and we must sell the product with minimal profit Rp 80.000)
Overall the program is okay, just need more preparation in calling the candidates (maybe due to the limited time and the personal were busy also). Thanks to my team, really nice, great, awesome team, with work smart we can get the 1st winner. RESPONSBILITY (Vin Cent, Andy, Ruru, and Ayu). Thanks for you all.:)

HNMUN 2012

Hi guys, for this time i will write my story in english. why so suddenly i write in english? because i want to share something about english and want to improve my english language also.:) It's about harvard national model united nations (HNMUN) 2012, the 58th most prominent and prestigious model united nation in the world and will be held in Harvard as we known as one of the best university in the world. Isn't sound great and awesome?

I will start from the selection process until I can be one of the delegate for HNMUN 2012. Actually last year I ever applied for HNMUN 2011 and I didn't pass the 3rd part of the selection. I didn't have preparation for the 3rd selection because lack of information. (experience will the best teacher for this). This year I try again to join HNMUN 2012 and apply my application. I think this is my last chance because I am on the last year in my undergraduate program in my university. There are a lot of effort I put for HNMUN selection (a bit 'lebay sih') but seriously.

The 1st part of the selection was CV and essay selection - why do you deserve as the delegate of HNMUN represent UNPAR? a bit diplomatic answer but I have passed the 1st part smoothly. (one tips for you read this blog : make your CV as good as possible - it's like you are selling yourself for other people/company)

The 2nd part of the selection was pouring your idea for several questions that were prepaid by the committee. There are several questions about international issues (I think about 7 questions) and we were asked to choose 2 questions to answer in one hour duration. of course, I choose the question that familiar with my background.

From the 3rd until the last selection, I did really put a lot of effort. For the 3rd selection was presenting one international issues around 15 minutes and you will be asked several question about what are you representing by the committee and the alumni of HNMUN. I prepare this part more seriously because last year I failed on this part. The most serious problem here is when I read the date for the 3rd selection, I was joining Astra 1st program in Ciawi, Bogor. It’s really a difficult choice because I must go to Bandung for the selection, after that I must back to Ciawi to join Astra 1st program again. After thinking for a long time, I decided to join the 3rd selection and thanks God again that I passed the selection.

Again, for the last part of the selection is Focus Group Discussion with International Relation Head Program Study, Faculty Advisor, and Rectorat Representative; Vice Rector I & III. For this time, I must get permission from PwC manajer to back to Bandung for the selection. Twice! Thanks for my manajer dan BUM that permited me to go back to Bandung.

VE project - Little Things For Billion Smiles

Lanjutan cerita magang saya di PwC, kali ini bercerita di mana setiap batch/angkatan anak yang magang di PwC harus membuat suatu project secara bersama-sama.

Setelah diskusi selama beberapa minggu sejak awal masuk, kami memutuskan untuk melakukan project sosial untuk berbagi dengan anak-anak yaitu mengajar anak-anak yang berada di rumah singgah. Cukup sulit untuk menyatukan ide dari kami semua dikarenakan kesibukan masing-masing anak magang yang berada di divisi yang berbeda.

Alhasil setelah beberapa kali mengalami proses perubahan dan pergantian ide, kami memilih rumah singgah/sekolah kartini yang bekerja sama dengan PwC yaitu yayasan Dilts yang berada dekat pasar minggu, daerah Depok, terletak cukup jauh dari kantor dan membutuhkan waktu untuk sampai di sana.

Kami menamakan project kami, Love - Little Things for Billions Smile. Secara garis besar rangkaian acara kami adalah pertama kami datang ke rumah singgah Dilts pada pukul 11.00. Acara resmi dimulai pada pukul 1, akan tetapi kami ke sana lebih pagi untuk beramah tamah dengan pengurus yayasan Dilts dan membereskan keperluan di sana. Sebelum jam 1 pun, anak-anak yang telah diberitahu kalau ada acara dari kami pun telah berdatangan satu per satu. Anak-anak cowok diajak untuk sholat terlebih dahulu di mesjid karena kebetulan hari tersebut adalah hari jumat. Sambil menunggu anak-anak cowok yang sholat, anak-anak yang perempuan diajak main terlebih dahulu. Ketika waktu menunjukkan pukul 12, kami pun makan bersama.

Tepat pukul 1, kami pun memulai acara dan setiap orang mempunyai job desc masing-masing. Acara dimulai dengan pembukaan dari pihak PwC yaitu Mba Ozzy sebagai HC, kemudian kami satu persatu memperkenalkan diri agar lebih akrab dengan anak-anak Dilts tersebut. Acara selanjutnya dipegang oleh anak acara yang telah menyusun serangkaian acara untuk menghibur anak-anak tersebut, dimulai dengan beberapa ice breaking agar membuat anak-anak bersemangat. Acara puncaknya yaitu anak-anak tersebut diminta untuk menggambarkan impian atau cita-cita mereka di maa yang akan datang. Gambar anak-anak tersebut bagus sekali, beraneka ragam. Kebanyakan dari mereka, yang cewek ingin menjadi guru sedangkan yang cowok ingin menjadi pemain sepak bola. Benar-benar menghibur sekali dapat berbagi dengan anak-anak tersebut.

Dengan memberikan sedikit perhatian kepada mereka, meluangkan waktu untuk mengajari dan bermain bersama, terlihat raut muka kebahagiaan yang terpancar dari muka mereka.:D

Indahnya berbagi bersama dan acara ini merupakan wadah yang tepat untuk saling mengakrabkan sesama anak magang di PwC yang berasal dari universitas yang berbeda dan magang di divisi yang berbeda juga.:D

21 Birthday Story

Birthday, pasti merupakan hari yang sangat special bagi setiap orang yang mengalaminya.

Kali ini saya akan bercerita tentang ulang tahun ke 21 saya yang tidak seperti biasanya, maybe I can say that it is really ordinary birthday for me. No surprise, no birthday cakes, no gifts. Just several wishes from important people in my life. Still Thanks God, masih ada orang yang ingat ulang tahun saya; keluarga besar tentunya serta beberapa teman dekat.

Ulang tahun ke 21 saya ini saya lewatin ketika waktu magang, dan baru masuk sekitar minggu ke 3 awal di mana masih belum terlalu dekat dengan orang-orang kantor. Seperti hari biasa lainnya, saya harus bangun pagi, mandi, dan berangkat ke kantor pagi-pagi (karena masih anak magang dan menunjukkan etiket baik untuk bekerja.:p). Sampai kantor sekitar jam 7 lewat, ketemu dengan orang-orang kantor seperti biasa. Mengerjakan beberapa tugas kecil dan tentunya e-learning untuk mengisi waktu kosong selama di kantor. Benar-benar terasa hari ulang tahun yang super duper flat alias bener-bener membosankan. Dan jackpotnya adalah hari tersebut saya kebagian lembur di kantor untuk membantu senior saya.

Well, ulang tahun diisi dengan lembur lagi... haha... Pengalaman yang luar biasa sekali.:P tetapi pengalaman yang membuat saya menjadi lebih dewasa dan dewasa lagi. Ketika ulang tahun, bukan perayaaan yang penting (mungkin iya kalau ada perayaan kecil-kecilan bersama keluarga atau teman dekat) tetapi proses untuk berkembang menjadi dewasa itu lebih penting.

Still Thanks To God, saya masih dapat menikmati hidup sampai sekarang yang telah melewati umur 21 yang dibiasa dikatakan orang-orang umur 21 merupakan gerbang menjadi seorang yang benar-benar dewasa dengan banyak tanggung jawab yang harus dipikul dan dijalanin.

Synergear - Astra Credit Company Marketing and Workshop Program.

Selanjutnya cerita tentang kegiatan Workshop dan Lomba yang diadakan oleh Astra Credit Company (ACC).
Sebelumnya, saya ingin menjelaskan kalau saya sendiri lebih tertarik pada lomba-lomba yang berhubungan dengan marketing atau leadership, di mana saya bisa berinteraksi dengan orang banyak dan mengenal orang-orang tersebut. Kalau dibandingkan dengan lomba akuntansi, secara saya bukan mahasiswa yang dengan IPK cemerlang yang biasa diberi kepercayaan oleh dosen-dosen untuk mengikuti lomba akuntansi.:P

Tapi saya sendiri percaya bahwa setiap manusia mempunyai jatahnya masing-masing di mana setiap orang mempunyai kelebihan sendiri. Yakin dan percaya kalau semua orang itu unik dan mempunyai kelebihan masing-masing.:)

Acara yang diadakan oleh Astra Credit Company berhubungan dengan dunia ekonomi, terutama bagian marketing. Astra Credit Company merupakan anak perusahaan Astra yang bergerak di bidang perkreditan baik untuk otomotive yang dijual oleh pihak Astra maupun di luar Astra. Acara ini diselenggarakan selama 3 hari yaitu hari pertama workshop marketing, hari kedua yaitu lomba simulasi bisnis kredit, dan hari ketiga ditutup dengan recruitment oleh pihak ACC.

Di sini yang akan saya jelaskan adalah tentang perlombaan simulasi bisnis. Ehmm,,, lomba bisnis yang berbeda dengan biasanya yaitu setiap kelompok secara random mendapatkan satu model miniatur otomotive, kemudian dari miniatur otomotive yang didapatkan, masing-masing kelompok harus menawarkan produk kredit atas otomotive tersebut. Kelompok saya kebetulan mendapatkan miniatur alat berat... Lumayan susah untuk menawarkan kredit alat berat karena pasarnya cukup terbatas, hanya pada perusahaan besar yang bergerak di bidang properti maupun pertambangan.

Kelompok kami terdiri atas 6 orang, Levina dari Bisnis, Dian Akun, Yassin Akun, 1 anak IT (lupa namanya), 1 lagi Ifan, anak maranatha yang sudah lulus. Kami menawarkan paket kredit dengan nama paket Kredit Untung terus, dengan program kredit di akhir masa kredit ada pengembalian. Dan alhasil kami pun memperoleh juara 2 dan memperoleh hadiah masing-masing hard disk 1 terra yang sampai sekarang saya sendiri belum sentuh dan belum tahu mau diapain...hahaha....
